Route Description From Fort Augustus go north on the A82 for 1.5 miles to Allt na Criche picnic site. Turn left into the forest following the cycling signs and travel seven miles on hilly forest trails to Invermoriston. Here there are areas where parts of the forests have been cleared, which gives good views of Loch Ness but is not aesthetically pleasing. There is a long descent from here leading down to a T junction, then head right behind Glenmoriston Arms Hotel back onto more difficult terrain through more forested paths with some scenic sights along its four mile stretch ending near Loch Ness Youth Hostel. The next 10-mile section includes an uphill climb reaching 300m before arriving at Drumnadrochit where visitors will find two competing Monster Exhibitions as well as shops and tea rooms – though keep in mind that no food or drink source exists between this spot and Inverness! When you reach Drumnadrochit take A831 for 1/2 mile then turn right onto A833 (signposted Beauly) heading upwards out of Glen Urquhart until 5 miles later when you bear right again (signed Foxhole). At each crossroads after that continue straight ahead until just before Abriachan when you turn left at one final cross roads (signed Blackfold), passing by a phone box followed by crossing over cattle grids prior to descending steeply toward your ultimate destination: Inverness! Once there, cycle eastward towards Bught Lane parallel with river flow up unto town center; alternatively try taking alternate route number 5 if needed due note it’s extremely hilly terrain requiring extra caution!.
