Achmelvich Bay & Beach (Dogs Allowed)
- Dogs ARE allowed (lots of miss-information on this)
- Sheep frequently roam the beach, so dogs must be on leads at ALL times
- A busy beach in the summer, with a campsite right on its shoreline
- The local campsite Shore Caravan Site is not dog friendly (see notes below, they are extremely strict on this)
Achmelvich Beach, situated in a stunning location, boasts a white sandy coastline and a nearby caravan and camping area. During the summer months, the beach is a popular destination for water sports enthusiasts who enjoy water skiing, windsurfing, and kayaking.
Hikers will also appreciate the close proximity of walks and climbs such as the renowned Suilven. Fishermen will be delighted to learn that the waters here are abundant with various fish species such as cod, haddock, whiting, pollack, saithe, and mackerel. Visitors with dogs are welcome but are advised to keep their pets under control at all times because of the sheep that frequently explore the beach and pick up after them as reminders are posted around the area.
