The Highlanders’ Museum Detailed Information

The Highlanders’ Museum is located on the Historic Scotland site, Fort George, a functional army barracks located just outside Inverness. The Museum narrates the story of the Highland Regiments from shortly after the Battle of Culloden to the present day.

The Museum is situated in the former Lieutenant Governor’ quarters, a prestigious location within the Fort. It is a Scheduled Ancient Monument, the highest possible designation for building conservation in Scotland. The Museum houses 40,000 artefacts, which is the largest collection of military artefacts outside London. These artefacts have originated from our Highland Regiments as well as our Allied Regiments in Canada, Australia, and New Zealand.
