The Highlanders' Museum
The Highlanders’ Museum is located at Fort George, a Historic Scotland site and working army barracks just outside Inverness. It occupies the former quarters of the Lieutenant Governor and has been designated as a Scheduled Ancient Monument – giving it the highest possible listing for building conservation in Scotland. The Museum tells stories about Highland Regiments from post-Battle of Culloden to present day times and houses 40,000 artefacts – making it one of largest collections related to military history outside London. These items have come not only from Scottish regiments but also Allied forces in Canada, Australia and New Zealand.
