Spynie Palace
For nearly 500 years, the bishops of Moray resided in a majestic building just outside their cathedral at Elgin. It was so grand that it even had its own bowling green and reportedly included a tennis court as well! Today, visitors can still climb David’s Tower where kings and queens were once welcomed by the bishop. Unfortunately, due to adverse weather conditions or other reasons out of our control, this property may close suddenly from time to time. Before visiting please check Historic Scotland’s closures page https://www.historicenvironment.scot/visit-a-place/check-for-closures/, follow closure tweets from @welovehistory using #hsclosure or call ahead before setting off to make sure they are open for business!
