St. Ninian's Scottish Episcopal Church Glen Urquhart
St. Ninian’s Scottish Episcopal Church was built in 1853 by the architect Alexander Ross, situated on the north shore of Loch Meiklie in Glen Urquhart. It has a simple lancet windows and crowstepped east gable with bellcote at its west end, while vestry includes V-plan oriel window in south wall. The entrance door is set within rounded archway which may include earlier masonry as well as rafter and arch-braced roof with tie beam at chancel having Gaelic inscription. Inside, an Early Christian cross slab can be found incorporated into altar coming from Temple located near mouth of Glen Urquhart – possible site for early church associated to St Ninian – likely dating back to 4th century AD . George Bain designed carpets known as Hunting Rugs featuring Celtic motifs and animals adorning sanctuary flooring too.
