Highland Folk Museum - Newtonmore
The Highland Folk Museum brings visitors back in time to explore the domestic and working conditions of earlier Highland peoples. Spend a few hours discovering how our Scottish ancestors lived, from building their homes to tilling the soil. Set in an 80-acre site with one mile of land, live actors and restored buildings help tell this story. Not only is it a way for people to learn about human endeavour and development through history but also take part in beautiful natural setting that’s home to red squirrels and tree creepers! Visitors can try activities or crafts while they’re there, feel objects made long ago, experience peat smoke or just walk around looking out for wildlife – whatever takes your fancy! Families will have plenty of things do when visiting as picnic areas are available as well as shops cafes too.
