Brora Golf Club Detailed Information

Brora Golf Club was established in 1891 and is celebrating its Centenary. In 1923 James Braid, five times Open Champion and a prolific designer of golf courses, visited the course to re-design it into an 18 hole links layout. The 6111 yard traditional links course has withstood time and remains a fair yet challenging test of true Scottish seaside links golf. There are bent grasses as well as gorse (often in full bloom for Golf Week) plus juniper and thyme all around the course; providing classic features such as an easy opening hole, four holes facing each cardinal point of the compass, one unreachable two shotter (at least until taking lessons from Brian Anderson!) and finally – with elevated tee -the 17th Tarbatness lighthouse viewable on your way back to the clubhouse window green! The greens run fast or slow depending on conditions which demand every club in your bag be used whilst also having you needing to adapt accordingly along with some manufacturing shots too if necessary! The sand is light aiding recovery when playing out from bunkers that are strategic but still very much fair & generous pin placements await when reaching many inviting swingy borrows upon most greens across this beautiful holiday treat venue!. Overall there’s little rough so you should expect returning home undamaged by any lost balls brought along! A modern comfortable clubhouse provides excellent catering facilities throughout April-October inclusive however perhaps even more important than these tangible assets lies within its warm friendly atmosphere welcoming everyone who visits through both online booking availability & occasional members’ competition dates only exceptions..
