Situated atop a rocky knoll on the edge of Loch Sunart, this tranquil hideaway provides stunning views across the loch. The area is renowned for its wildlife, with visitors often being rewarded with sightings of otters, pine martens and golden or white-tailed eagles. There are two islands in the loch – Garbh Eilean (Gaelic for Rough Island), where common seals can sometimes be seen lounging on its shoreline – which serves as inspiration for the name of this hideout. Most materials used to construct it were locally grown and processed wood.
