Timespan Heritage and Art Centre
Timespan Heritage and Arts Centre is located in the remote Scottish village of Helmsdale, home to only 800 inhabitants. The museum provides an essential service to this small community by documenting local history and bringing people together through socializing, creativity and inspiration. It has a contemporary art gallery, archive, gift shop as well as geology herb garden bakery café and museum shop. Four major projects are commissioned every year creating a rolling programme of exhibitions which align with topical social movements that address issues pertinent to the local area such as space travel fishing Caribbean textiles kite making crafting etc.. One particularly notable exhibition was Real Rights which explored climate change’s intersection with colonialism from a local context – demonstrating how Timespan can be monumental in reframing history within its region .
